Busy Days for Max

Things have been wicked busy (can you tell I’m hanging out in New England?!) out on the campaign trail.

Last Saturday the state universities in Maine all had their graduation ceremonies. I had the distinct privilege of being invited to the graduation at the University of Maine at Machias. I found myself seated next to a state representative, which seemed very fitting.

This was without a doubt the most unusual graduation I have every attended (actually it was the ONLY graduation I’ve ever attended). It started with some lovely organ music – reminded me very much of the ball game I went to down in Atlanta last year, and a little like the circus we attended down in Florida – very lively stuff going on down there in Machias! Even better, there were several musical selections played on the ukulele – possibly my ALL-TIME favorite musical instrument! And with a rousing rendition of “Happy Trails” – on the ukulele, of course – the graduates were sent out into the world with much hoopla and fanfare. Among those graduating was my new campaign resource manager, Megan who has been freed to join me out on the campaign trail now.

The next stop on the Maine tour was in Waterville, where I had the great honor of speaking to some students and teachers at Temple Academy there. They were a lovely group, very attentive as my Jeremiah 29:11 friends sang and spoke, and so very interested in all of the important issues – like more dessert and longer recess at school! I’m looking forward to hearing from some of my new friends there.

Now I’m getting ready to head down to Lewiston, where I’ll make an appearance in a city park this Saturday. Hope to see you there!

So, to all my loyal supporters, and to those yet undecided, have a wonderful day. God bless you, and God bless America!
